We apologize for not sharing an update sooner regarding the current situation of Asano Taiko U.S. We appreciate your patience, and we would like to take this opportunity to share an important update with our community. Going forward, all of Asano Taiko U.S.’ products — including drums, bachi, and other accessories — will be imported directly from Taiko no Izumi Kyouwakan (太鼓の泉 響和館) in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.

Kyouwakan was founded in 2021 by Akitoshi Asano, father of our CEO, Katsuji Asano. With decades of experience and leadership in taiko-making, Akitoshi continues to shape the craft today. This means that while the name may be new, the tradition and skill behind the instruments we provide are built on generations of experience and dedication. Taiko has always been at the center of Akitoshi's life, and we are proud to carry that heritage forward through Kyouwakan.

While Kyouwakan instruments are an important part of our offerings, we also carry a variety of taiko drums and accessories from other trusted brands, making Asano Taiko U.S. a full-service taiko store for the North American community. Whether you are looking for traditional Japanese drums, non-Japanese drums, or accessories to enhance your performance, we strive to provide the widest selection of taiko products available.

This is an exciting step forward for our store, our school, and our community. With Kyouwakan and other quality brands by our side, we look forward to continuing to share the joy of taiko through:

  • High-quality taiko instruments and accessories available at our store and online
  • Professional repair and taiko skinning services
  • Classes and workshops at the Los Angeles Taiko Institute (LATI), where students of all ages and levels can learn and grow

As we continue through this transition, there may be occasional delays in the import of some products, particularly bachi. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this period, and we are working closely with our partners to minimize any inconvenience.

We are deeply grateful for the continued support of our taiko community. Your trust and encouragement make it possible for us to keep building connections between Japan and the U.S. through the art of taiko. Thank you very much.
