Come experience learning Miyake Taiko from none other than the original teachers of this art form to Kodo: Miyakejima Geinou Doushikai. Over the course of three days Kazuhiro Tsumura, current head of Doushikai, and Haruyoshi Tsumura will be leading workshops focused on their theory, technique, and cultural and historical roots of Miyake Taiko.
For those with litte to no experience in Miyake Taiko, or are wanting a refresher on the basics there are two 2 hour workshops focused on the fundamentals, $80/each:
- December 12 7:00pm - 9:00pm
- December 13 9:30am - 11:30am
There is one more 2 hour workshop intended for those with prior experience, or who have taken a beginner workshop either during this weekend or on some earlier date, $80:
- December 13 5:00pm - 7:00pm
Finally, over the course of Saturday December 13 to Sunday December 14 there will be a 10 hour intensive workshop covering all aspects of Miyake Taiko with deep focus on each element, $380 until November 7, $420 afterwards.
