Please join Asayake Taiko for our 15th annual Spring Showcase! Hazakura follows the story of Mitsuki and Akari, two childhood friends turned rival taiko players, as they discover (and rediscover) their passion for taiko. Their story will unfold as our members showcase the hard work they've put into taiko performance this past year! Asayake Taiko is the collegiate taiko ensemble located at the University of California, San Diego. "Asayake” means “morning glow” in Japanese, and invokes the image of the early morning light playing on the ocean mist in La Jolla. Founded in 2002, our mission is to promote both cultural awareness and inclusivity in the UCSD and San Diego communities by sharing our love, passion, and respect for the art of taiko through performance.
